However, with our headquarters in the Netherlands and close to 100 years of experience in the fertilizer business in the country, we are also proud of our Dutch roots.
Though hardly visible on the world map, this tiny country is a giant when it comes to agricultural production. With a large population in a small, low-lying delta region, there is not much land left for large scale production. This is why farms in the Netherlands are some of the most intensive, sustainable, and efficient in the world. And this is also how it became the world’s number two exporter of food as measured by value, second only to the United States, which has 270 times its landmass.
“We see a reduction of available land surface for agricultural production and are facing climate changes, causing drought or floods more often. To safeguard the environment, food production needs to be more sustainable, forcing us to grow smarter with less input of fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation water etc. New technologies and precision farming can help us.” says Erik, Managing Director.
And that’s exactly what the Dutch are good at. Always looking for innovative ways to improve what is already there and come up with new, high-tech solutions. This forward-looking mind-set is what led the Netherlands to the leading position it has in agriculture today.
This is what we also strive to do at Van Iperen every day. “Even after almost a century, we are still hungry for innovations to optimize inputs in crops, for example the increasing usage of fertilizers improving Nutrient Use Efficiency.” explains Erik. “In that respect, our High Performing Solutions such as IPE® Technology, WAKE-up Liquid and Seaweed based products prove to bring real added value for the grower.”
The majority of our products are also produced and packed in the Netherlands. Our Water Soluble NPK factory and Liquid fertilizer factory are among the largest within Europe. This is where we produce and ship our high quality fertilizers from, allowing us to serve you with consistent, high quality from Holland.
